ago, the Calusa Indians inhabited Fort Myers. Attempts to conquer Fort Myers were made  by Ponce de Leon 1513 to 1521.  And, Florida changed
rule from  by the British and to the Spanish.  As the area developed, Fort Myers Beach became Homesteaded and from the late 1800's went from a fishing village to in the 1950's that launched it as a profound tourist destination for sun-seekers, investors and retirees.
